My Practice

Hi. A little about how I work and in the About Me section I talk about who I am in hopes of helping you determine if I would be a good fit therapist.

Everyone is unique and thus the way I practice is tailored to the individual. However, there is a core of how I work that I believe facilitates core growth, and this comes by working from a position of curiosity.

I want to help you understand how your past impacts your present, how multigenerational family dynamics play a part, how cultural and racial components impact you, gender constructs, what motivates you, how you make decisions, your strengths and weaknesses, goals, and desires.  I feel the process is a continual cycle of awareness, understanding, meaning, and growth.

We are trying to see how your unconscious affects your daily life, the unconscious being actions that may feel agitating, irritating, things you are unsure or unhappy after you do them. The more we can bring that part of you out into the light something new emerges, a new consciousness, maybe being more present, or more in control of your life, or maybe getting to places you never thought of or even thought were possible.

Now the question is how is that done. Well, we do it together. It starts with you talk, I listen, if I hear something I bring it up and so we begin. This may seen vague, but what I can say to you is this, if you choose to work with me, and the fit is right, you will see growth.

The first and greatest victory is to conquer yourself; to be conquered by yourself is of all things most shameful and vile.
